#SeeninShaw Preservation Month Meet Up, 05/04/16!

May is Preservation Month, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which started the Main Street movement in the mid 1970s, is encouraging everyone to take pictures of themselves in front of historic sites they care about with signs that read, "This Place Matters" and post the pics to social media.

At this month's Shaw Main Streets Meet Up, Free #ThisPlaceMatters bandanas provided by the National Trust will be distributed so everyone can start posting pictures of Shaw places that matter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #ThisPlaceMatters. The best photographs will be entered into a drawing for prizes at the end of the month.

In addition to other free Shaw swag, our hosts at Calabash Tea House & Cafe will be providing some of the savory and sweet treats that earned them top honors as DCs Best Tea Shop in the City Paper's annual Best of DC poll for the fourth year running.

So stop by Calabash at 1847 7th Street, NW, between 6:00 and 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, to help celebrate Preservation Month, places that matter to you in Shaw, and be #seeninshaw.
