Thanks for Voting for Shaw in Partners in Preservation Contest

Shaw was not one of the top 11 vote-getters in the Partners in Preservation contest sponsored by American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation in October.

Over 14,000 votes were cast for Shaw's entry on the contest, but that was not enough to obtain funding for the restoration of the facade of 1537 7th Street, NW, the building that houses Ivy and Coney on the second floor. The building was built as a blacksmith shop in 1881 and housed a metal working business as late as the 1950s.

The original facade of the building will remain covered by stucco on the first floor and siding on the second floor for the forseeable future.

Shaw Main Streets, building owner Johannes Cooke, and the owners of Ivy and Coney thank voters across the DMV and America for their support during the month-long campaign.
