Rito Loco wins Best New Shaw Business of 2015 Award; District Pilates and Foundry Gallery also win Awards at Shaw Main Streets Annual Meeting

 

Rito Loco, which offers a menu of tacos and burritos that have gained a following from DC to Miami, won the Best New Shaw Business of 2015 Award at the Shaw Main Streets Annual Meeting at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC on March 23, 2016. Owners Louie Hankins and Danny Diaz accepted the award, thanking the neighborhood for supporting their business got its start with a food truck of the same name.

Rito Loco's menu includes beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian, and even breakfast versions of their specialties, featuring family recipes made fresh from scratch. Unique items like avocado fries join best sellers like the Rib Rito (made with baby back pork ribs) and even salads. District Pilates won first runner up honors. The studio is located at 1302 9th Street, NW and offers private and group Reformer and Chair classes, from beginner to advanced. Foundry Gallery won the second runner up award. The 45-year-old artists cooperative gallery, which relocated from Dupont Circle last year, presents the work of established and emerging local contemporary artists in changing exhibitions each month. The gallery, located at 2118 8th Street, NW, is open Wednesday- Sunday, 1-7pm. Foundry Gallery Board of Directors President Fran Abrams, whose work is on exhibit at the gallery until March 27th, accepted the award at the ceremony.
