Art All Night Returns to Shaw, 09/29/18, with Eight Hours of FREE Art, Music, and Glow-in-the-Dark Fun!

The District’s only free overnight arts festival, Art All Night DC, returns to Shaw on Saturday, September 29, 2018 with an all-new lineup of visual art exhibits, performances, and interactive events. Art All Night started in Shaw in 2011 and this year, “Shaw Glows” with art and light installations, black light fun, glow-in-the-dark artwork and projections that will light up the night.
From 7:00 pm on September 29 until 3:00 am on September 30, art lovers can bounce around Shaw experiencing a variety of glow-in-the-dark and back light-reactive art, illuminated activations, projections, photography, crafts, fashion, live music, dance, poetry, performance art and DIY activities in a variety of unique indoor and outdoor spaces located throughout central Shaw’s 7th and 9th Street corridors.
The featured artists and performers this year include internationally renowned artists, including Robin Bell, Craig Kraft, and Aneikan Udofia, and performers like Grammy-award nominated Christylez Bacon, Ethiopian superstar Yehunie Belay and the Orioles' Ray Apollo Allen, all exhibiting and performing in one neighborhood, for one night only.
A parade led by the Batala female drum corps and costumed Soka Tribe Caribbean dancers, fire performances by Pyroxotic and Jennifer Stephens, and an outdoor art market surrounded by a glow-in-the-dark fence are other highlights. Festivalgoers will receive free glow-in-the-dark Mardi Gras bead necklaces and wristbands, enjoy black light dance parties and fashion shows, dance to silent disco, and create their own art, all free of charge.
