Shaw Main Streets Annual Meeting, 03/21/23!

You are invited to attend the Shaw Main Streets Annual Meeting, to be held via Zoom on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 7:00 PM. In-person annual meetings were suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are resuming this year as a virtual webinar.

The meeting will begin with a welcome from Executive Director Alexander M. Padro and Board of Directors Chair Gretchen Wharton. Next we’ll hear from Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau; Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto; Kristi Whitfield, the director of the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development; and Salah Czapary, the director of the Mayor’s Office of Nightlife and Culture.

A PowerPoint presentation will review 2022 program highlights, followed by plans for the balance of 2023. The election of a slate of Board of Directors members will be conducted as a Zoom poll, while members on the slate offer brief remarks.

The slate of candidates consists of Mario DiFranco, U Street Parking; Robert K. Johns, Howard University; Kristi Lee Jones, Lee’s Flower and Card Shop; B. Doyle Mitchell, Industrial Bank; Todd Weiss, Roadside Development; and Gretchen B. Wharton, Retired. The meeting will be adjourned following the announcement of the election results.

And one lucky attendee will win dinner for two at the new Ambar Shaw, compliments of the restaurant. The winner will be drawn at random from the email addresses of attendees logged into Zoom for the meeting.
