All Aboard the Ribbon Cutting Express: Shaw Cuts 19 Ribbons for New Businesses, June 22, 2016

DC’s Shaw neighborhood will celebrate its ongoing retail boom with 19 ribbon cutting ceremonies for new small businesses in one morning on June 22, 2016.

Shaw Main Streets, the 2016 Great American Main Street Award winning commercial revitalization and historic preservation nonprofit that has been guiding the neighborhood’s revitalization since 2003, is sponsoring the ribbon cutting event to highlight the successful efforts that have attracted over 250 new businesses.

DC At-Large Councilmember Vincent Orange, Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans, Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen and Ana Harvey, Director of the Department of Small and Local Business Development, will traverse three wards highlighting the businesses that have opened in central Shaw in recent months. Two of the businesses, Chao Ku, an authentic Chinese restaurant, and La Jambe, a French wine, cheese and charcuterie bar, are opening to the public this week.

Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau will not be in the District that morning, but will visit the business owners in her ward to congratulate them later.

The ribbon cutting delegation will be transported between venues by the Ribbon Cutting Express, provided by U Street Parking. The 19 ribbon cuttings will be conducted in the following order:
